On October 5th 2026:
We held a Community Meeting: Meet, Greet and Dream together facilitated by Monique Meadows (Banyan Coaching and Consulting) and Miriam Avins (Avins Consulting) to connect, scheme and plot what might come next at 901 Montpelier Street. Held at the Waverly Enoch Pratt Free Library from 5:30-7:30PM. The meeting was attended by 50 community members. We broke into three groups: 1) people who were not at the 1st meeting, and wanted to be caught up, 2) people who want to see something as close to 901 Arts as possible continue in the space, 3) people who wanted to share ideas about other community minded ideas of what could take place in the building. The leadership team shared an Invitation for Proposals and invited it to be widely circulated as way forward of what might happen next in the building. In the Invitation there is also a Call for Reviewers to review the submitted proposals.
On August 4th 2026:
We held a Q'n'A at 901 Arts from 5:30-7PM titled "What? 901 Arts is/might be closing?" to allow our community to hear from Sarah, Debra & Eleanor, ask questions, share feelings. It was facilitated by Monique Meadows (Banyan Coaching and Consulting) and Miriam Avins (Avins Consulting). It was attended by 18 community members. We provided a brief history of 901 Arts, an explanation of the current context, and then held a round of inviting attendees to express their feelings and ask questions.
On July 24, 2026 we shared the following message:
Dear Community,
We have some big news to share. 901 Arts has had an incredible 20 years. We are so proud of what our youth, teachers and staff have accomplished. After 20 years, co-founders and board members, Debra Evans & Eleanor Montgomery, and director (of 18 years), Sarah Tooley, are ready to plan their transitions from 901. They commit to keeping the center open through the end of the 2026-2027 school year. What happens next is yet to be written. We want the process of either ending or a new program/project coming to 901 Montpelier Street or new stewardship for 901 to include and be driven by you, our community. We are hosting two sessions to kick things off, one is to share more information with you directly and the second is to begin provess of envisioning what comes next.

Come see the unveiling of our 10th and most recently completed mural by our teen artists under direction of Iandry Randriamandroso, of our co-founders Debra and Eleanor. Featuring the 901 Arts drumline!

901 Day! Annual Fish Fry
Celebrate! Our semi annual fish fry fundraiser block party with live music, auction items and great food and dancing.
